I don’t do things by half here at CheekyPunter.com which is why I’ve produced the ultimate guide to the webs best betting sites. The guide has been designed with the sole aim of helping you find the bookmaker that best suit your needs.
My Promise: I pride myself on honesty and integrity with my work here at CheekyPunter.com and promise you that in this guide I’ll only link to the websites I truly believe are the best.
Top Picks: 1-10
To kick things off I’ll list the top 10 and briefly explain what you can expect from them.
DON’T just select straight away though – please make sure you at least scan the rest of the guide as there may be a specific category mentioned which better helps define your needs and select the correct site for you. Remember T&C’s apply to all bonus offers.
- a 100% deposit bonus (max of £200 bonus) with a 3x wagering requirement when you join.
- free access to over 20,000 live sporting streams which include major European football, tennis, darts, horse racing and greyhounds.
- in-play betting on all sports which runs directly alongside live streams – watch the match and the odds side by side live.
- various long running promotions including increased payouts on football accumulators, money back on 0-0 draws, best odds guaranteed on all and a competitive price promise on all horse racing.
All of the above is covered in much more detail in my Bet365 review which I strongly urge you to check out – banking options, contact info and additional promotions also included in review.
A+ rating – I rate everyone in the review section and Bet365 get the top A+ rating. This means they are a quality online bookmaker but most importantly they as trustworthy as an online bookie can get!
- a £25 free bet when you join which is released by sticking £25 on anything with odds of 2.0 or greater as your first bet.
- consistently the best odds you’ll find online for European football matches – independently verified by odds comparison experts oddschecker.
- best odds guaranteed on all UK and Irish horse racing- if SP is bigger than your price get paid out at the bigger odds.
- the best money back specials (yes better than Paddy Power) you’ll find anywhere online – don’t believe us? You better check them out and see.
A+ rating – Betvictor are the only other online bookmaker (aside from Bet365) O’m are prepared to give an A+ rating to. To reiterate this basically means they provide a top quality service and have no trust, honesty or scam issues.
- daily money back specials and big promotions for major sporting events – think big derby matches, major golf tournaments and Wimbledon here.
- a £20 free bet for new customers which is released by placing your first bet with them to the value of £5 on anything with odds of 2.0 or higher.
- a live streaming service to rival Bet365 which is available to all account holders with money in their account.
- enhanced odds promotions which often cover doubles or trebles giving you better returns than anywhere else online.
A rating – Paddy Power have been given an A rating in my detailed review section. Their main plus point is the on-going value they provide. There’s plenty of chances to cash in after the welcome bonus.
William Hill are another bookmaker who decided to relocate abroad and currently hold a Gibraltar gambling license. They welcome new punters with a bet £10 get £20 free bet and offer a live streaming service to rival that of Bet365’s. They aren’t great on promotions or money back specials (some increased odds bets are available) so I’ve only given them an A rating overall.
You can find out more about why William Hill are one of the best by visiting the William Hill review page.
Betfred are licensed in Gibraltar and have two great football promotions. The first is goals galore which gives significantly increased odds on both teams to score accumulators. The second is double delight / hat trick heaven which doubles or triples your payout on first goalscorer bets if they score 2 or 3 goals in the game. They get an A rating because their overall sport coverage and options per market isn’t quite what it should be. A £30 free bonus is on offer to new customers and you only need to bet £10 to claim it.
To find full promotion details and get the £30 free bet on offer to new punters check out our Betfred review.
Coral are licensed in the UK and have chosen not to move abroad to a tax haven to run their online operation – so yes they do pay taxes like the rest of us. New customers are welcomed with a £20 free bet (triggered by £5 bet) and we’ve given them an A rating. There’s no real problem with Coral but at the same time there’s no real reasons to sign up with them. They do offer increased odds bets but these are few and far between so 6 on our top sites list is fair enough.
Check out our Coral review for full details of what this steady online bookmaker has to offer.
#7 Ladbrokes.com – there’s a £50 free bet available to new customers and coverage of all sports is good. From time to time they run football promotions worth a look but like the other bookmakers further down the list there isn’t consistent added value available. These guys have a great reputation but are yet to offer punters any big reasons to stick with them long term. Until things change they won’t rise up my list. Ladbrokes review here.
#8 888Sport.com – treble the odds on your first bet for new customers. Worth joining for their bonuses but you probably won’t stick around long. A lack of on-going worthwhile promotions and cut price odds will put most serious punters off. Visit the 888Sport review for more info.
#9 StanJames.com – bet £10 get a £10 free bet for new customers. A solid site but there’s not a great deal else aside from opening bonus in terms of value. Live streaming is available though. No promotions for sports bettors means you probably won’t stick around here for long either. Check them out in detail on the Stan James review page.
#10 Totesport.com – £25 free bet for new punters. The only real reason to join is if you want to place totepool specific bets like the scoop 6, totejackpot or toteplacepot. Poor coverage of other sports and lack of bonuses means Totesport find themselves lower down the list of best betting sites. Find full details by visiting my Totesport review.
A-Z of Betting Sites by Sport
For me to really call this the ultimate guide we’d have to cover which bookie is best depending on what sport you want to wager on. Well below you’ll find an a-z list of the best bookies categorised by sport:
Much like the sport you bet on it also matters what deposit option you want to use. Most do accept the majority of the major credit and debit cards but when it comes to the likes of PayPal only certain sites allow it. The same goes for other e-wallet type services.
I’ve actually got a dedicated section which deals with every single deposit option so you can select the site that’s right for you based on the method you want to use to fund your account. You can find that section of the site by clicking the ‘Deposit’ link in the top menu or by click here to visit deposit options now.
I don’t encourage you to pick your home on solely the amount of free cash you can get your hands on when you join but if that is your main priority then you’ll be pleased to hear I’ve got a section of our site which covers this.
To visit the free bets section click here and when you get there make sure you check out the right hand menu as it lists all free bets by the size of the free cash on offer. This ranges from up to a £200 bonus at Bet365, to treble the odds on your first bet at 888Sport, £50 at various bookmakers and down to the likes of Stan James who only offer a £10 free bet to new customers.
NOTE: Whilst it’s great to get some free cash to get your account going what’s more important is long term value. By this I mean money back specials and increased odds promotions. You’ll find that BetVictor and Paddy Power are by far the best two here so I strongly recommend you check them out. Do so in the reviews section by clicking the previous link.
Biggest Bonus Offer – The top site in terms of bonus available right now is Bet365. The Bet365 bonus which stands alone as a 100% deposit bonus up to a max of £200. You do have to wager your deposit amount + bonus amount 3 times to withdraw the bonus cash though.
So if you deposit £50 you’ll instantly get £50 free but to withdraw you’ll need to place bets totaling £300 before you can get your hands on the free cash. You can use it straight away just not withdraw instantly.
Best For Mobile
You can use any website on your mobile phone but some of the bigger players have put a lot more time and effort into their mobile offering than others.
Below is a video by David, aka the Cheeky Punter, which shows you how to get and reviews what we believe is the best for mobile users – it’s Bet365.
Top rated app:
*This video was made for another site originally.
Apps ranked: If you want to see my take on the best apps then I’ve reviewed all the best and classified them by which is best for what phone in the mobile section – just click the link to visit.
NOTE: You can sign up to any site via their app and you’ll be able to claim the same bonus that’s available to people signing up using their desktop or laptop computer. Some sites have additional mobile bonuses which you’ll get on top of the opening account offer (check out Bet365 and 888Sport for these).
Currency Options Available
The final part of this ultimate guide covers the currency you want to bet with which also takes care of the country you live in. If you live in central Europe and you haven’t got strict government laws governing online gambling then you’re pretty much free to use any bookmaker website you want.
However if you live in countries with restricting online gambling laws then it’s important to check where you will and won’t be welcome. India is a prime example of this. You can check all the rules and regulations for your country in the currency section of CheekyPunter.com.
Note: bonus amounts do sometimes change from currency to currency so make sure you check before you join to avoid disappointment.
