iPhone Review

We’re well aware that people have really strong feelings about their favourite mobile handsets and operating systems, and why they’re better than the other options on the market. Rather than stumble into that particular minefield, therefore, we’re going to focus on reviewing iPhones purely in terms of how good they are for running and using betting apps.

Why It’s Good for Betting Apps

iPhoneFirst and foremost, when assessing how good iPhones are for betting apps, it’s important to mention that – alongside Android operated handsets – they are one of just a few types of phone which most bookmakers produce and offer a downloadable app for. Punters can generally head to the App Store, therefore, and search for the name of their favourite bookmaker and will find an iOS version of that bookmaker’s mobile app to download for free.

Alongside the fact that those downloadable iOS apps are generally available, iPhones also boast a couple of other notable advantages when it comes to utilising betting apps.

Firstly, the Touch ID feature of the newer iPhone models adds an extra layer of security when it comes to using a mobile betting app. If you utilise that security feature, after all, even if you leave your app logged in on your iPhone no one whose fingerprint hasn’t been pre-approved by you can gain access to your mobile in order use it.

Due to the massive popularity of iPhones and iOS devices in general, it is also fair to say that most bookmakers have spent a lot of energy and money on tweaking and improving their iPhone betting apps. In general, therefore, it is those apps which are the most attractive and user-friendly and which offer the largest range of markets and additional features.

Why It’s Not Good for Betting Apps

Until relatively recently, the main drawback when it came to using an iPhone for online betting was that the App Store restricted the availability of betting and gambling apps. Fortunately, however, this is no longer the case and as such, an iPhone is now unquestionably one of the best devices to use a mobile betting app on.

Company Overview: Apple

AppleUnless you have been living under a rock for the past ten years or so you will likely know that the iPhone is the most popular mobile device manufactured and offered by tech giants Apple.

Apple was first founded back in 1976 as Apple Computer Inc. and was initially focussed on developing and selling some of the very first personal computers. It wasn’t until 2007 that the company began to shift focus towards mobile devices with the launch of the first iPhone and a change of name to simply Apple Inc.

Alongside their various iterations of iPod music players and iPad tablets, it was the iPhone and the iOS operating system they utilise which really accelerated Apple to their position as one of the world’s premier technology brands. From the first generation of iPhone launched in 2007 to the most recently released iPhone X, the handsets have unquestionably achieved a popularity which is largely unmatched by any other devices.

As a result, by just 2010, Apple accounted for approximately 50% of the total profit generated by all global mobile phones and in the fourth quarter of 2012, 13% of all mobile phone handsets sold were iPhones. Increasing competition from Android operated handsets has since slowed Apple’s growth a little but the company remains a true giant of the global technology industry.

Given the sheer popularity of Apple mobile devices it’s not unsurprising that the majority of online bookmakers first focused on building their iPhone betting app or mobile site version before any other device compatibility was considered – meaning therefore that iPhone users have the most choice and best betting apps available.
