Review of Boylesports

3.5|5

Editors Note:

Boylesports is one of Irelands biggest online bookmakers and they’ve enhanced their offerings to customers still further since our first 3.5 star review a few years back.

So much so that after our new review of the site, we’ve upgraded their rating to four stars given the range of improvements on the site, most notably in its Live Betting and Streaming section.
Paddy Power’s marketing may well still attract plenty of attention from customers in and outside of Ireland, but Boylesports is still a very decent alternative. They aren’t quite on a level with the very best, but their service is still well worthwhile for many.

If you don’t currently have a Boylesports account, then there’s a new Welcome Offer available which offers a £25 Bet Bundle to new customers from an initial deposit and bet of £10, plus there’s a wide variety of other long-term promotions available when you’ve signed up too.

Pros & Cons of Boylesports

  • An expansive site that now includes Live Streaming.
  • Expansive sports betting service.
  • Extensive promotions across a wide range of sports.
  • Free to Play Fantasy5 game offers a chance to win £5,000 every week.
  • Simple, easy to navigate site that is very user-friendly.
  • Excellent Customer Services and payment options.
  • New Welcome Bonus requires a hefty spend (£130) to realise £25 of free bets in full.
  • Odds on offer are usually middle of the road and not often amongst the best available.

  • As safe as any bookmaker you can sign up with.

Boylesports is registered in Gibraltar globally and this means the company is licensed by the Government of Gibraltar. Additionally, the company also holds a UK Gambling Commission licence, which means that Boylesports are guaranteed to:

  • Protect against those not old enough to engage in gambling, including having measures in place to prevent minors from access to the site.
  • Assist customers with any gambling related problems by offering information, guidance and more on where they can get help as well as having tools for users to limit their spending and access to their account.
  • Provide an entirely fair service to all customers.

Founded in 1989, Boylesports first established a name for itself on the high streets across Ireland and the UK before the company moved into the online arena in the early 2000s.

Boylesports have an excellent reputation for fairness, and you can be assured that if you land any winnings, you will be paid out (provided you can complete any verification checks).

What Happens if Boylesports Don’t Comply?

Should Boylesports not comply with any aspect of the licences that they hold, then the company can be punished in a variety of ways, dependent upon how severe the breach of licencing was.

If the breach is a small one, then the company can be warned, given clear guidance on how to rectify the mistake and sometimes issued a relatively small fine.

However, the more serious the breaches of the terms and conditions of the licence, the more serious the punishments. This can take many forms including being forced to apologise and compensate customers wronged by the company, severe fines, suspensions of a licence and in the most severe of cases a huge fine and their licence can be revoked indefinitely.

Deposits & Withdrawals Review of Boylesports

It is fair to say that the only knock against the deposit options at Boylesports is that the company does not yet offer cryptocurrency as a form of payment method.

In terms of standard fiat payment methods, ewallets, prepaid cards and similar, Boylesports is as good as they come with the methods that they accept for deposits and also for withdrawals.
As far as we can see, all deposit options are also fee-free, as they should be, while the speed of withdrawals are also pretty good.

Deposit limits vary from payment method to payment method but are between £5 and £10 for many services.

Will I Get Paid?

Yes. Boylesports have one of the most rock-solid reputations online for paying customers out when they have won a bet.

Often, if you read a complaint about Boylesports, it is because the customer has misunderstood a promotional offer and is complaining erroneously or has not completed the verification required to make a withdrawal.

However, once you are verified as being who you say you are, your withdrawal times and options at Boylesports are numerous and you will be paid what you are owed.

How To Deposit To Boylesports

You can deposit into your Boylesports account through its site, app or even through depositing cash at a Boylesports shop in Ireland and the UK.

At a Boylesports shop, you’ll need your account number and username and once you have provided them to the cashier, together with your cash, your online account will be updated immediately.

To pay on the app or web, simply enter the banking section of the site. Choose which of the available payment methods you would like to deposit your cash with and enter the amount you want to deposit into tour account.

Click the button to proceed once you have entered all the required information, and your account should be updated with the new funds instantaneously.

One important thing to note is that if you are signing up to access the £25 Bet Bundle offer for new customers, deposits using PayPal, Skrill, Moneybookers or Neteller will not qualify for this offer, so it is wise to check if your chosen payment method is accepted for this bonus beforehand.

How To Withdraw From Boylesports

Boylesports offers many fee-free ways to make a withdrawal from your account. In fact, of the listed deposit options, only Boku and Paysafecard cannot be used as a method for withdrawals with Boylesports.

Making a withdrawal is easy, simply head to your Boylesports account section, click on the Payment Methods option and from here a list of available withdrawal options are available.

Select the one you wish to use for this withdrawal, enter how much of the available balance you wish to withdraw and click the button to proceed. Confirm you want the withdrawal to proceed, and it will be actioned by the company.

As is customary for many UK customers, the withdrawal method(s) available to you depend on which deposit methods you have used with the site. For example, if you have only ever deposited by debit card, then debit card withdrawals only will be available to you.

Remember too, as part of the Know Your Customer (KYC) process, customers will require to be verified before their first withdrawal on the site. This requires you to provide information and proof you are who you say you are before the bookmaker can issue the withdrawal to you.

This means your first withdrawal may be delayed while the KYC process is completed, but subsequent withdrawals should be much quicker.

How Long Does It Take To Withdraw At Boylesports?

Boylesports state that standard withdrawals can take anywhere from 3-5 working days to be processed. This does not include weekend or bank holidays. However, sometimes withdrawals can be processed more quickly than that, depending on the withdrawal method used.

Customer Service at Boylesports

Top marks for customer support

What’s customer support like?

10|10
  • Live chat service
  • Phone support
  • Direct email support
  • Quick to respond to customers

Boylesports customer support services are amongst the most extensive you will find online. In addition to an exceptional help section available on site, which answers almost all of the most common queries, you can also find support via:

  • Live Chat
  • Phone (dedicated numbers for customers in each of the UK, Republic of Ireland and other international customers)
  • Email support via care@boylesports.com and there is also a contact form you can fill in when you access the Help section of the site.

With so many ways to contact Boylesports, not including their presence on social media sites such as Facebook or X (formerly Twitter), this makes them one of the best and most reassuring sites when it comes to customer service.

Review of Boylesports Website

Mobile & desktop site review

Is Boylesports easy to use?

Boylesports Mobile Review

Boylesports mobile app has a decent rating of 3.9/5 but from only 300 ratings, however, a good proportion of those ratings are five star reviews, and a lot of the lower reviews are people that have lost money on the site and seem to be just having a complain about that.

In terms of the app, we couldn’t find much fault with it. It is perhaps not quite as stable as some of the best apps around on the market today, bet365 Sport’s app for example, but it is still a good site and does seem to be popular, especially with infrequent casual punters.

The layout of the app mirrors the desktop and is logical and easy to follow. In general it seems to follow the same layout standard that most other of the top betting apps are using with menu items across the top and in the footer with an A-Z menu included to find all different bets and a promotions tab for the latest offers.

All in all the app is well designed and easy to use.

Boylesports Desktop Review

There have been some upgrades to the Boylesports website since our last review, which has increased its rating with us. Firstly, the look of the site is cleaner and crisper. The same blue and white livery is evident, but the site looks far less dated than it used to.

It is also user-friendly to navigate, whether that is by the website or the mobile apps available. Banking options are clear and easy to use, and promotions plentiful and easy to find.
Where the site has made major progress is in its Live Betting service, which not only has the same upgrades to its look as the rest of the site, but also now has extensive Live Streaming options across a wide range of sports, many of which you can access simply by having a Boylesports account.

The addition of free to play games, such as the Fantasy5 game, is also a nice touch and keeps Boylesports well in contact with its major rivals.

My only major gripe is the lack of other colours in the main design, plus I feel the bet slip section of the layout is a little too wide, meaning the main middle section does look a little cramped together.

There’s nothing truly ground-breaking with the Boylesports website, it is a tried and trusted layout and formula that many sites use, but Boylesports have really polished their product well over the years and the site is now one of the most user-friendly available on the net today.

How To Join Boylesports

You can join Boylesports on the app or through the website and the process is essentially the same once you have loaded up the app or the website.

  1. Visit Boylesports by cliking here and then click on the green Join button
  2. There are now two forms you need to fill in. The first contains all your personal details, first name, last name, date of birth, email address and the country you reside in as well as your mobile number.
  3. The second page allows you to set your address, the currency you wish to play with, a deposit limit (if you wish), a security question and answer and your username and password.
  4. You can then select whether you want maketing from the company by ticking the box and then click the green Agree & Open Account button.
  5. Your registration will be processed and your new Boylesports account will be opened.

Markets & Odds at Boylesports

What sports can you bet on at Boylesports?

8|10
  • 30+ sports
  • Irish sports offered
  • Live betting
  • Daily specials

There’s a wide range of sports you can bet on at Boylesports and that range has increased since I first reviewed the site a while back. In addition, the number of markets has also improved. The company is the second-largest Irish bookmaker, behind Paddy Power, and as such offers a wealth of betting alternatives including:

  • American Football
  • Athletics
  • Aussie Rules
  • Badminton
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Beach Volleyball
  • Bowls
  • Boxing
  • Cricket
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • Entertainment/TV
  • Esports
  • Field Hockey
  • Football
  • Futsal
  • Gaelic Games
  • Golf
  • Greyhounds
  • Handball
  • Horse Racing
  • Ice Hockey
  • Motorsport
  • Netball
  • Olympics
  • Politics
  • Pool
  • Rowing
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Snooker
  • Speedway
  • Squash
  • Swimming
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis
  • UFC/MMA
  • Virtual Sports
  • Volleyball
  • Water Polo
  • Winter Sports (Alpine Skiing, Biathlon, Ski Jumping etc)

It is easy to navigate within a certain sport to find fixtures and markets you’d like to bet on, and similarly easy to navigate from one sport to the next via the drop down menu, or A-Z menu options.

This user-friendly nature of the site also extends to the Boylesports app, which is equally easy to use for mobile customers.

One small niggle, the odds offered on markets tends to be more in the middle of the pack, rather than the best value odds. That has been a mark against Boylesports for some time now. There are the occasional times when Boylesports can be amongst the best prices, but it doesn’t happen as often as I’d like.

In-Play Betting Review at Boylesports

Amazing livescore feature

Is live betting offered at Boylesports?

9|10
  • Expected range of events
  • Cash out available
  • Live scores & stats
  • Bet & watch horse racing

Boylesports has improved its Live Betting service in a number of ways, but most markedly with the inclusion of an excellent and comprehensive Live Streaming service, which covers a wide range of sports and contests each day.

Alongside the addition of Live Streaming, the better design of the site, the improvement in data offered for each live event, along with more events and a wider range of markets to bet on, means that it is fair to say that this aspect of the site has been hugely improved.

There are still one or two small niggles. We think the odds-on offer from many In Play bets are not that good compared to other sites, but the majority are about the middle of the road in terms of value for most markets.

Boylesports Live Streaming Review

In my last review of Boylesports, I was harsh on them for their basic live streaming service that only covered horse racing. But now, the new and improved streaming service covers a whole host of sports.

Not only that, but it sits alongside the Live Betting service very neatly indeed, offering customers the chance to bet on a wide range of events and multiple markets for each event.

For me, this has been the biggest improvement to the Boylesports site over the years and it is one that is directly responsible for the improvement in star rating we have given to the site.

What Sports are Streamed on Boylesports?

Boylesports offers a wide selection of sporting streams for its customers to use. Some of the main sports available regularly on live streams are:

  • Tennis
  • Table Tennis
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Ice Hockey
  • Snooker
  • Cricket

Additionally, if you place a bet of £1 or more on any Horse Race or greyhound race you can tune in to the live stream for that race on the site too.

New Customer Offers at Boylesports

  • New £25 Bet Bundle offer for new customers.
  • Bonus paid out as 5 x £5 Free Bets, with each free bet paid out when you reach a certain bet spend level at Boylesports.
  • A somewhat complex promotion for new customers.
  • Not the best value when compared to rival sites offerings.

Boylesports revamped their welcome offer to a £25 Bet Bundle and this new offer is perhaps the most disappointing aspect of the site, especially when compared to other welcome offers.
First of all, you need to deposit and bet £10 in order to claim your first £5 Free Bet with the offer.

Your four remaining £5 free bets are then released, with the amount you receive in free bets dependent on 50% of the average value of your next three bets on the site.

That means you need to wager 3 bets of £10 each to receive your second free £5 bet and then the same for your third, fourth and fifth. If you bet less than £10 then your free bet value decreases in value proportionately.

To land the full free bet bonus, you need to make 13 bets of £10, to receive £25 free bets (£130). Not the greatest value, but an offer shaped so that customers can work their way through it over a longer period than other welcome offers.

Personally, we don’t think this Boylesports Welcome Offer cuts the mustard compared to others, but there are some people that this offer will appeal to.

How to use the Boylesports New Customer £25 Bet Bundle Bonus?

The Boylesports welcome offer for new customers takes a little while to work through and does require several deposits and bets of £10 (13 in total) to claim the full £25 in free bets. Here’s how to claim the bonus:

  1. Head over to Boylesports.
  2. Click on the blue Join button in the top right corner of the home page.
  3. Complete Step 1 of the registration process (personal details)
  4. Complete Step 2 of the registration process (account details and preferences)
  5. Confirm your registration to get your account set up.
  6. Log in to your new Boylesports account.
  7. Make a deposit into your account (£10 or more).
  8. Place your first qualifying bet of £10.
  9. Receive your first £5 Free Bet when the qualifying bet has settled.
  10. Use your £5 Free Bet within 7 days or it will expire.
  11. Make three bets (of £10 each to qualify for the full offer) to qualify for the next £5 Free Bet.
  12. Repeat Step 11 three further times to claim the maximum £25 Free Bet Bundle.

Overall Review

Here’s our overall take on things…

Our Verdict of Boylesports

One of the premier online bookmakers
OUR RATING FOR:
BOYLESPORTS
3.5 | 5

Since our last review, we have seen a slow but consistent level of improvement with Boylesports and as such, we have upgraded their review rating deservedly from 3.5 stars out of 5, to four out of five.

In truth, this score would have been perhaps even reaching 4.5 out of 5 but for the lower value odds you tend to get with Boylesports and that somewhat uninspiring and expensive £25 Bet Bundle Welcome Offer for new customers.

It’s also not great that certain payment methods are still not included in the welcome bonus offer.

However, those niggles are outweighed by the fact that there has been continuous improvement with the Boylesports website and Android and iOS-based apps. The addition of brand-new features such as the Fantasy5 free to play promotion and the excellent Live Streaming service that now is a jewel in the crown of a much-improved Live Betting service.

This slow and steady improvement is reflected in the improved score at Cheekypunter, but there’s still a bit of room for improvement. However, we’d recommend Boylesports as comfortably offering a safe, secure and very good all-round betting service to punters.
