Don’t Forget Your Top Hat For Royal Ascot This Week!

It is one of the most iconic summertime sports events in the United Kingdom. Back this week with all its pomp and circumstance is Royal Ascot, five days of high-quality flat racing which always has the Royal seal of approval.
From Top-Hats and Tails in the Royal Enclosure, to the glitz and glamour of Ladies Day through to the famous Ascot Gold Cup race, these five days of racing offer some of the most exciting and glamorous sporting days of the entire year.
Let’s now take a look at each of the five days of racing, highlighting some of the big races.
Royal Ascot 2025 – Schedule
Tuesday 17th June
- 2.30pm – Queen Anne Stakes (Group 1)
- 3.05pm – Coventry Stakes (Group 2)
- 3.40pm – King Charles III Stakes (Group 1)
- 4.20pm – St James’s Palace Stakes (Group 1)
- 5.00pm – Ascot Stakes (Handicap)
- 5.35pm – Wolferton Stakes (Listed)
- 6.10pm – Copper Horse Stakes (Handicap)
The opening day sees some notable horses in action in the first race with Rosallion, Dancing Gemini, Notable Speech and Lead Artist all very much set for a rematch after finishing in the top four in the Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
Field of Gold will also attract plenty of interest in the St James’s Palace Stakes after a stunning win in the Irish 2,000 Guineas. His rematch with Ruling Court from the 2,000 Guineas in May should be a highlight.
Wednesday 18th June
- 2.30pm – Queen Mary Stakes (Group 2)
- 3.05pm – Queen’s Vase (Group 2)
- 3.40pm – Duke of Cambridge Stakes (Group 2)
- 4.20pm – Prince of Wales’s Stakes (Group 1)
- 5.00pm – Royal Hunt Cup (Heritage Handicap)
- 5.35pm – Kensington Palace Stakes (Handicap)
- 6.10pm – Windsor Castle Stakes (Listed)
The Prince of Wales’s Stakes is the big race of the day and that will see two horses Anmaat and Los Angeles face off once again. However, if the ground is on the softer side, don’t rule out Almaqam.
Thursday 19th June
- 2.30pm – Norfolk Stakes (Group 2)
- 3.05pm – King George V Stakes (Handicap)
- 3.40pm – Ribblesdale Stakes (Group 2)
- 4.20pm – Gold Cup (Group 1)
- 5.00pm – Britannia Stakes (Heritage Handicap)
- 5.35pm – Hampton Court Stakes (Group 3)
- 6.10pm – Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap)
Ladies Day and Ascot Gold Cup day is always a massive part of Royal Ascot and despite the withdrawal of Kyprios from the Gold Cup, there is still a strong field which includes Willie Mullins’ Absurde, French stayer Candelari, Godolphin’s Trawlerman and Aiden O’Brien’s Illinois.
Friday 20th June
- 2.30pm – Albany Stakes (Group 3)
- 3.05pm – Commonwealth Cup (Group 1)
- 3.40pm – Duke of Edinburgh Stakes (Handicap)

- 5.35pm – King Edward VII Stakes (Group 2)
- 6.10pm – Palace of Holyroodhouse Stakes (Handicap)
With Lake Victoria withdrawing from the Coronation Stakes, French horse Zarigana should be amongst the favourites in the 4.20pm race. She’s won four of her five starts, one of them a controversial French 1,000 Guineas victory in May after finishing second to She’s Perfect, only for the Stewards to award Zarigana the win.
Saturday 21st June
- 2.30pm – Chesham Stakes (Listed)
- 3.05pm – Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2)
- 3.40pm – Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Group 1)
- 4.20pm – Jersey Stakes (Group 3)
- 5.00pm – Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap)
- 5.35pm – Golden Gate Stakes (Handicap)
- 6.10pm – Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions)
The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes is the big race of the final day of Royal Ascot and the French trained Lazzat is the horse to watch here. While beaten over longer distances, as a sprinter, the Jerome Reynier-trained sprinter is the class act over six-furlongs.
You can follow all the action on ITV Racing across all five days, with races also available on Sky Sports Racing and with many bookmakers via live-streaming.
