Liverpool Face Manchester United In Sunday’s Huge Premier League Clash

This weekend sees a massive Premier League clash as Liverpool seek to get back to winning ways at Anfield against one of their most bitter rivals; Manchester United.
Arne Slot’s team struggled prior to the international break, which came at a good time for the team, but they will have to be at their best against a United side who are sure to be up for this game and will look to inflict a fourth successive defeat on the Reds.
Here’s our preview for what is usually a Premier League classic encounter each season!
Reds Struggles Pre-International Break
After making a strong start to the season with five league wins in a row, things came unstuck for the Reds at Crystal Palace a few weeks back when a late Eddie Nketiah strike handed the Eagles a deserved win.
A 1-0 defeat away to Galatasaray in the Champions League followed and then in their last league game, another late-late goal from Chelsea’s Estevao brought the Reds their second league defeat, a 2-1 loss at Stamford Bridge.
With Mo Salah out of sorts, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez struggling, Ibrahima Konate and Alexis Mac Allister out of form and Allison injured, the Reds need to turn around this run of three defeats against one of their most fierce rivals.
United Away Days Headaches
Ruben Amorim has seen his United team win their last three home games against Burnley (3-2), Chelsea (2-1) and Sunderland (2-0), but their away form is a real concern. They have not won on the road in their three games, losing twice (to Brentford and Manchester City), while drawing at Fulham.
One positive is that they have drawn three of their last five at Anfield against The Reds, including the most recent fixture between the two, which finished in a 2-2 draw back in January.
However, the two defeats they have suffered at Anfield have been heavy, a 4-0 loss and a 7-0 loss in successive seasons which does not bode well ahead of Sunday’s big game.

Liverpool vs Manchester United Team News – Predicted Starting XIs
Liverpool
What will Arne Slot do for this game after Liverpool’s run of defeats? We have seen him drop or rest the likes of Wirtz, Salah, Ekitike, Mac Allister and Gakpo in recent weeks. Alisson is definitely out, meaning Mamardashvili will start in goal but there are question marks in both full back positions, midfield as well as who will start as the focal point in attack.
Predicted XI – (4-3-3) – Mamardashvili (GK); Bradley (DR), Kerkez (DL), Van Dijk (DC), Konate (DC); Gravenberch (DMC), Szoboszlai (MC), Wirtz (AMC); Gakpo (AML), Salah (AMR), Isak (AC)
Manchester United
Ruben Amorim may well be tempted to stick with the team that picked up a 2-0 home win over Sunderland last time out. With Mathias Cunha still injured, provided all the players come through the international break unscathed, United will likely have a very similar line up for the game at Anfield.
Predicted XI – (3-4-2-1) – Lammens (GK); Yoro (DC), De Light (DC), Shaw (DC); Diallo (DMR), Dalot (DML), Casemiro (MC), Fernandes (MC); Mbuemo (AMLC), Mount (AMRC), Sesko (AC)
Match Prediction
Expect fireworks at Anfield, especially after Liverpool’s run of three successive defeats away from home. A win against United takes on huge significance here. United though will be well up for this and it is hard to see this being a low-scoring affair.
However, we expect Liverpool to get the job done.
Prediction: Liverpool 3-1 Manchester United.
