Nations League & FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – Results & Latest News

The European FIFA World Cup Qualifiers started last week for some European teams not involved in Nations League playoff action. Let’s take a closer look at some of the action from the past four days, as well as looking ahead to the final two days of World Cup qualifiers.
Nations League Quarter Finals

Germany will host the two semi-finals, third-place match and Final of the Nations League in June this summer.

- June 8th – Third Place Match (MHP Arena, Stuttgart) – 2pm

Teams Confirmed as Qualified For The 2026 FIFA World Cup
48 Teams will compete. Five teams have already qualified for the tournament. These qualifiers are outlined below alongside how many teams from each part of the world will qualify for the tournament.
- North & Central America (3 & 3 Hosts) – United States, Canada and Mexico
- Oceania (1 + 1 Playoff Slot) – New Zealand
- Asia (8 + 1 Playoff Slot) – Japan
- Africa (9 + 1 Playoff Slot) – None as yet
- Europe – (16) – None as yet
- South America (6 + 1 Playoff Slot) – None as yet
Close to Qualifying
- World Cup holders Argentina need just one point from any of their final five CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers to ensure they qualify for the 2026 Finals.
- Iran requires just one more point from their final three Qualifiers to confirm their place in the finals.
- Uzbekistan need four points to ensure qualification from their final three qualifying games.
Argentina and Iran could clinch their place in the finals in the next few days, while a win for Uzbekistan and a defeat or draw for UAE and Qatar would ensure the Uzbeki team qualify for their first World Cup Finals.
