The New NFL Season Is Here – Who Will Challenge The Eagles For SuperBowl Glory?

Last season, the Philadelphia Eagles stopped a Kansas City Chiefs three-peat, with a 40-22 dominant victory in Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

This coming weekend, the first games of the new NFL Season will take place and after a busy pre-season period, which included the NFL Draft and a dramatic free agency, the teams have now reduced their rosters to the required 53 players.

With the Philadelphia Eagles the current team to beat, which NFL teams stand the best chance of de-feathering the Eagles and landing Super Bowl success in Super Bowl LX, at Levis Stadium in California on the 8th February 2026?

In this post, we will give you our list of six teams that could well challenge the Eagles dominance in the NFL this season.

Gunning for the Eagles in the NFL in 2025/26?

Baltimore Ravens

Time is perhaps running out for this Ravens team to land a Super Bowl. QB Lamar Jackson will be around a while yet, but a number of his supporting cast are now approaching, or over 30. Even so, the depth and quality of this squad is very strong and even in a very tough AFC North, they should be looking to make the post-season at the very least. And if their star men can stay injury-free, they can beat any team on their day.

Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen has done almost everything expected of him as Buffalo’s Quarterback, except lead his team to a Super Bowl. This season, he may get another excellent chance to do that. The Bills were a little short on offense last season, but have made some smart moves to address that. They should win the AFC East relatively comfortably, but it is those crucial playoff games where Allen needs to push his team over that win line.

Kansas City Chiefs

Five Super-Bowl appearances in six years, three of them won, emphasise how dominant Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes have been in Kansas City. The quarterback does perhaps lack some of the stellar names he has had alongside him in the past and with Tight End Travis Kelce’s production starting to fall, he’ll need support from teammates in order to lead his team into the playoffs, especially from what is looking like a tough AFC West.

Washington Commanders

Last season’s surprise package in the NFC shocked the Detroit Lions on their way to the Championship game, where they were well-beaten by the Eagles. They are in a tough division, but in Jayden Daniels they have arguably the best QB pick of the last few years and with a strong supporting cast around him, Daniels could lead the Commanders to being the Eagles main challengers in both the NFC East and for the NFC Super Bowl spot.

Detroit Lions

Last season showed how strong the Lions were until they ran into an inspired Commanders team in the playoffs. Dan Campbell will know his team should be set to go strong again this season. They’ll have to in a very tough NFC North that also features Green Bay, Minnesota and Chicago, all of whom will harbour realistic playoff hopes. The Lions are still the strongest of these four teams though and if they can reach the playoffs, they’ll be a huge threat.

Cincinnati Bengals

After a dismal start to last season, the Cincinnati Bengals were never really in contention in the AFC North. Despite that, quarterback Joe Burrow and his main receiving duo, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins produced a stellar season in terms of numbers. If the Bengals can avoid the slow start this season, then they should be challenging the Ravens hard for top spot in this division and if they get into the playoffs, this offence will be a threat to any team.

The action kicks off in the early hours of Friday 5th September as the Dallas Cowboys visit the Super Bowl Champions, Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field in the first game of what promises to be another exciting NFL season!
