The US Open tennis tournament starts this week and it promises to be a battle in both the women’s and men’s tournament. The final Slam of the year always produces its dramatic moments and 2024 promises to be no different.
All the top stars from the men’s and women’s games will be in New York to try and land the fourth Grand Slam of 2024.

It is certainly a possibility given how open the women’s event is, although the top two seeds will be ranked as strong favourites. Coco Gauff is the defending champion and she could be one of several talented American women to go far in this tournament.

Since announcing her retirement at the end of this season, Danielle Collins has been in exceptional form on tour. She’s won 42 matches this season, losing just 15. She’s won twice in America (in Miami and Charleston) this season and will want to bow out of her career as a tennis professional in style.

Djokovic is defending the title he won last year, his last Grand Slam win, but he will also have to contend with the in-form Alexander Zverev, while Daniil Medvedev is another player to consider given that he has been runner up and winner of this tournament over the past three years.
One to Watch – Ben Shelton – 67.00
The 21-year-old Floridian has only been pro two years but reached the semi-final of this tournament last year and has improved his showing in the other Slam events in 2024. He’s been knocking on the door of the top ten for a while now and he may be able to push into it if he plays well in New York.
