Who is Jérémy Doku, the shining new star of Manchester City?

The absence of Kevin De Bruyne has been a setback for Manchester City. However, the good news is that another Belgian midfielder Jérémy Doku has been a revelation for the defending Premier League champions.
In a recent Premier League win over Bournemouth, Doku scored and made four assists. He’s currently just 10/1 at bet365 to record the most assists in the Premier League this season.
Massive Future
His potential has been recognised for several years now. His first appearances for Belgium were in their under-15s squad. He made his way through the levels and made his full debut for them in 2020.
The 21-year-old clearly has a massive future ahead of him. Any defender who has had to cope with his dribbling skills and impressive speed will agree with that statement. No wonder people call him ‘The Belgian Flash.’
Doku made his Belgian Jupiler League debut for Anderlecht five seasons ago.Already he has generated two large transfer fees. Ligue 1 Rennes signed him for €26 million.
Then this August he was transferred to Manchester City for €65 million. Signing him was the aim of several Premier League clubs including West Ham and Chelsea.
His debut for the Premier League champions (4/9 at BetVictor to retain their title) was against Fulham on September 2. He scored his first goal for City against West Ham. Doku is 33/1 at bet365 to win the PFA Player of the Year award.
Praise from Pep
Winning praise from Pep Guardiola is always significant. He raved over Doku’s performance against the Hammers in what was only his second game for them. “The way he played today, I don’t remember something like that since a long time ago,” said the City boss.
Since then, Doku has continued his excellent form. Notably he gave Brighton’s James Milner a nightmare, faster than a seagull perhaps?. Can he do the same in City’s next Premier League game against Liverpool on November 24 where the champions are 4/6 at William Hill to win.
