Best Cycling Betting Sites 2024

Last Updated: April 3, 2024

Cycling Betting SitesIt can be tough to find a good quality cycling betting section at even some of the more well-known betting sites, especially outside the major events and tours, which is a surprise given the recent rise in popularity of the sport.

It’s fair to say bookmakers don’t focus on cycling but if you know where to look (we do and you will soon) you’ll be able to find all the markets and bets you’re looking for.

On this page we first take a close look at what online punters should be looking for from any bookmaker and following that we dive into our list of the top cycling betting sites.

There’s more out there for cycling punters than you think – saddle up and pay attention.

Football Punters Look Out For…

  • Number of Markets – cycling events are not as numerous as some sports, so you want a betting site that covers as many of these events as possible – some bookies cover more than others.
  • Market Depth – cycling meetings and events are few and far between, especially given the time it takes to complete events like the Tour de France. As such, having a great depth of bets on events across a wide range of markets will give you more options when it comes to your cycling betting.
  • Request Odds – sometimes, if you are a mad keen cycling fan and follow events closely, you may have in mind a particular bet you want to make on a meet or event that there are not specific odds for. Companies that offer you the chance to request odds on your bet are a great option for cycling punters that may have some specialist bets of their own creation.
  • Cash Out – is the winner of a race a formality, like the last day of the Tour de France, and you don’t want to wait to collect your winnings? Check out whether your site offers a cash out facility for bets that can be settled early.
  • Review Rating – the odds are if you enjoy cycling betting, then you are going to enjoy other forms of betting as well. With that in mind, you need a site that hits the right notes when it comes to other betting markets, odds, promotions and the like. Checking out the Cheeky Punter review score is a quick and easy way to rate sites against each other.

Cycling Betting With Bet365

5|5

What are they like?

Bet365 are one of our highest rated bookmakers overall and scored a full 5 out of 5 stars across our general review. It’ll come as no surprise then that they are our top option for football betting as well.

Whether you like to bet on road cycling on to have a punt on the action in the velodrome, Bet365 have you covered.

Through the course of the road cycling season from January to October, the bookmaker price up almost all World Tour events, as well as some lower reputation races, and offer outright markets for Grand Tours for months in advance of them starting. When it comes to track action, meanwhile, World Championships, European Championships, Olympic events and other top level competitions are all also regularly catered for.

Whilst Bet365 only tend to offer race winner markets for many cycling events, the absolute biggest races do also benefit from a greater range of available markets. A Tour De France stage, for instance, is likely to have a stage winner market, several match bet markets and a selection of other innovative wagering alternatives.

Cycling Betting With Betvictor

What are they like?

Another betting site which benefits from an excellent reputation with punters, Betvictor also boasts a really user-friendly and innovatively formatted website, and offers a great cycling betting service for punters.

Just like Bet365, Betvictor also let punters bet on a whole range of cycling events both on the road and in the velodrome. From the Tour De France, to the springtime classics in road cycling and from the Olympic Games to the European Championships on the track, Betvictor has cycling betting fans well covered.

Most races which are priced up will offer simply a race winner market but the bigger events do often boast a greater range of betting alternatives, and Grand Tours typically have an ante post outright market available well in advance of the start of the race.

Cycling Betting With Unibet

4|5

What are they like?

Unibet are one of the biggest online bookmakers in Europe, however, cycling is certainly not one of their main sports.

Unibet do include a market for each of the big multi-day grand tour races but neglect to include some single-day races. Olympic events and World Championships are only offer when immanent.

After navigating to the sports section and finding cycling in the drop-down list of all sports, players are presented with the markets offered.

From here you select your event and then market which, for the main tours at least, includes all the popular classifications; Points, Mountain, Young Rider, General and Team. You can also bet on the winner of various stages of the overall tour as well.

It is disappointing to see there is no live streaming available for cycling but the user interface is decent and as long as you’re not looking to bet on niche cycling races Unibet should have you covered.

Cycling Betting With Paddy Power

What are they like?

Finished off our countdown of the best cycling betting sites is Irish bookmaker Paddy Power. Renowned for running innovative and beneficial promotions and for making headlines by paying out early on some markets, Paddy Power also offer a very decent cycling betting service.

The Tour De France and the other two grand tours are typically priced up ante post by Paddy Power a number of months in advance, and other major road cycling events are also available to bet on throughout the season. Track cycling events at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, as well as the sports own World and European Championships are also typically made available to bet on.

Cycling Betting With Betfair

3.5|5

What are they like?

Betfair are probably best known as a betting exchange, and while it can be used as a simple bookmaker service, there are more advanced settings which allow players to back and lay bets.

The extensiveness of their website however does not stretch to their cycling markets. They have managed to cover the three most-watched multiple-day grand tours but there is no indication that they offer markets for road or track competitions.

They offer three markets for each of the big three races. Players can bet on the prologue winner, the prologue is an individual time trial used to decide who wears the special jersey for the first stage. They can also bet on the outright winner and on who will finish in the top three racers using Betfair’s markets.

There are no live streaming offers for cycling but, Betfair’s sign-up offer for their sportsbook is one of the biggest in the UK and it is always beneficial to have an account with a betting exchange despite their cycling offerings leaving a little to be desired.

Cycling Betting With William Hill

4.5|5

What are they like?

Players will have recognised William Hill from their days on the British high street and they may prove to be one of the best options for cycling betting in the UK.

William Hill cover both multi-stage grand tour races and single-day races plus track and road world championships.

They offer comprehensive betting markets including betting outright on not only race winners but also classification and stage winners, head to head betting on who will perform best out of a pair of riders, and players can even bet on winning margin. They also offer extensive over/under markets, this could include betting on the number of finishers or the number of stages won by a particular rider.

Even if this is still not enough, William Hill commit to offering markets or bets, not readily available on their website, if you contact them directly. Particularly using the hashtag #YourOdds on Twitter.

We have noted that William Hill often offer odds on the tighter end but they make up for this in welcome offers and breadth of markets. Plus players should look out for enhanced odds and flash odds which offer boosted prices for a limited time.

Cycling Betting With Coral

4.5|5

What are they like?

Coral, like William Hill, have been a go-to online bookmaker for British customers thanks to the good reputation they built up from shops on their high streets. They are also a great option online and in-store for cycling betting.

They offer betting options for every type of cycling fan, whether they’re interested in multi-day grand tours, single-day races or Track Cycling World Championships and Olympic cycling events. So whether you enjoy cycling standing on your feet in the beautiful European countryside or from a comfy seat in the velodrome there are events available at Coral. Plus their cycling section is easy to find and sectioned into in-play, events, competitions and outrights.

The cycling betting markets they offer are extensive. They allow players to bet on outright occurrences such as race winners, point winners and stage winners. On top of this, they have markets which allow players to bet on specialised areas for example you can back a rider to be the best climber by using the King of the Mountain market. Beyond this, they have over/under markets like betting on the number of finishers or the number of stages won by a particular rider.

Cycling Betting With Ladbrokes

4.5|5

What are they like?

One of the biggest names in the UK for bookmaking. They again benefit from a good reputation on the British high street, Ladbrokes is a good option for betting on cycling.

The range of markets they offer does not match up to Coral and William Hill but they do aim to cover the same scope of events. They do both multi-day grand tours and single-day races along with Olympic cycling events and the Track Cycling World Championships.

Although their markets leave room for improvement, they do offer more markets than just outright winners. Players can bet on stage victors and on which rider will claim the most stages. Of course, there are also special jersey bets, and they are known for offering a top streaming service which commits to providing live action when you bet on cycling with Ladbrokes.

Ladbrokes are constantly innovating so it may be worth looking at potential welcome offers, loyalty bonuses or constantly updated customer promotions. Along with stacks of regular promotions, they are also constantly improving their app and website which could help them to stand above Coral and William Hill.

Tour De France

Ask any man off the street to name any cycling race and they will be able to say the Tour De France. It is a bicycle race which takes place in France every summer. The track has been known to stretch into other countries including England, Belgium, and Spain mostly due to the use of the Pyrenees. The Tour De France has been running since 1903 stopping only for the First & Second World Wars. The storied race was embroiled in controversy at the beginning of the millennia with no winners declared from 1999 to 2006 due to the application of performance-enhancing drugs.

Giro D’Italia

The Giro D’Italia is another multi-day grand tour, with this one taking place in Italy. Giro D’Italia uses three special jerseys to signify different leaders The points leader wears a pink jersey called the maglia rosa, the climbing leader wears a blue jersey, and the leader of the sprints wears a red jersey. Over 100 races have taken place since its inception in 1909. The list of past winners is largely dominated by members of the host country with Italy having 69 wins. The highest average speed ever recorded was in 1983, when Giuseppe Saronni managed 38.937 kilometres per hour (24.194 mph).

Vuelta a España

The final of the three prestigious multiple-day grand tour classic cycle races and the youngest. This Spanish based race was founded in 1935 in the wake of the huge success of its Italian and French counterparts. The special jerseys used here include a red one for the rider with the lowest aggregate time and a polka dot jersey for the mountain leader. Its colour has changed many times over the years but now seems to be settled on red. This race has gone through many forms in its sporadic history but now takes place across 23 days with two days of rest.

Tour Of Flanders

This is an annual single-day cycling event which first took place in 1913. It was initially conceived to only take place on Flemish soil as an opportunity to flex the muscles of Flemish national pride. While all of the above races stopped during the Second World War, the Tour of Flanders is the only race to have been held on German-occupied territory. It has the longest streak of races without interruption in cycling history. Amateurs can take part in the We Ride Flanders race held a day before and there is a shorter route which takes place on the same day for women cyclists.

Paris-Roubaix

Another single-day race classic, this is the only one which can trace its routes back to before the 20th Century. It started in 1896 and is named after the areas where it initially started and finished, however, these have since moved while the name has remained. It now starts in Chantilly and finishes in the Roubaix Velodrome. It is known as The Hell of the North and A Sunday in Hell due to its rough terrain including sections with extended sequences of cobblestone racing. As a result of this, since 1977, winners receive a pavé or sette as a prize.

Tour Of Britain

The only race on this list which is not included in the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) World Tour, but has been adopted into the new UCI ProSeries. It is a multi-stage cycling race that in its current form was founded in 2004, although it is predated by several other similar races, dating back to 1945, known as the Milk Race, the Kellogg’s Tour of Britain or the PruTour. Its start and finish changes every year tending to explore a different part of Britain every year. The length tends to change but falls somewhere between five and eight days of riding.

Cycling Bet Type FAQ

It’s fair to say that whilst cycling has been growing significantly in popularity with sports fans in Britain over the past few years, the betting options available on the sport remain a little limited. The very biggest cycling races, however, do typically have a number of different betting markets offered for them. We will describe some of those markets below, as well as explaining exactly the kinds of races for which they’re typically offered.

Race/Stage Winner Bets – The simplest and most commonly available of cycling bet types, race/stage winner bets are those which pay out on the first rider across the line on any given day. For one day races, the markets will be known as a race winner market whilst for stage races taking place over multiple days, stage winner markets will be available for each day’s winning rider.

General Classification Markets – For the Tour De France, other Grand Tours and any cycling stage race, you will typically be able to bet on the outright general classification winner – that is the rider who wins the overall race – as well as each day’s stage winner.

Points & Mountains Classification Markets – Multi-day stage races in cycling typically have three main competitions rather than just one. Alongside the general classification contest, there is also generally a race for the points and the king of the mountains jerseys. For grand tours and other high reputation races, betting sites will also allow you to bet on who you believe will be the outright winner of these classifications.

Match Bets – A final type of cycling bet which is sometimes available, a match bet disregards the overall result of a race and instead simply pits two riders against one another. Regardless of where they finish overall, if your chosen rider beats their particular rival from a match bet across the line, your bet will be a winner.
