The Danish football section of most online bookmakers is hidden away and sees little action. If you’re someone who wants to bet on Danish football then I’ve tried my best to come up with a guide which will allow you to see the best Danish football betting sites for online punters.
I’ve made a comparison table below which lists all the destinations rated highly for safety and shows you what Danish football markets are on offer. Further down the page there’s a guide to how the league system works in Denmark and a small section on the top teams to look out for.

How Does the Superliga Work?
The Danish Superliga is the highest tier in Danish football and is home to a number of teams with great pedigree, both at home and in European competition.
The league comprises of 12 different teams who all play each other three times. Obviously this means that one team will have the advantage of a home tie twice in the season. This is calculated by seeing which of the teams got the advantage in the previous season, with the roles reversed the season after. The Danish Superliga is fairly highly rated and currently sits in 12th place in the UEFA rankings, just behind the larger leagues on the continent.
Promotion & Relegation
When it comes to promotion and relegation, the Danish Superliga has a simple format.
The bottom two teams in the league are automatically relegated to the Danish 1st Division, while the two teams finishing highest in the league below find themselves in the Superliga the following season. There are no playoffs or other matches to determine who goes up or down – it is simply a straight swap.
When it comes to fighting for European places, Denmark receives an allocation of five places – two for the Champions League and three for the Europa League. The winner and runner-up of the league will enter the Champions League at different stages and the 3rd and 4th placed teams will be placed in the draw for the Europa League. If the team winning the cup have already qualified through league position then the 5th placed team could find themselves in the Europa League as well.
It’s pretty hard to find outright betting on the league winners and who’s getting relegated but most sites have markets on a match by match basis and some football betting sites (Bet365) even stream matches from the Danish Superliga league.
Who are the Top Teams in Denmark?
It’s pretty simple getting to grips with how the Danish football league system works so lets now take a look which teams to look out for when you bet on Danish football.
There are a number of well-known teams in the Danish Superliga, but the most successful in its history – even though the league only started in 1991 – is F.C. Copenhagen, with a total of 9 league titles. They are also the current champions, having won the title in the 2010-2011 season by a massive points difference.
They are closely followed by Brondby IF, who have won 6 league titles, although the last of these was in 2005. Other well-respected teams include AaB, Lyngby and OB. The Danish Superliga has recently started to attract some well-known players and the league is slowly but surely getting stronger.
Sites for Previews & League Info
The world of online gambling has allowed the industry to seriously expand the amount of different leagues that they cover, and this includes the Danish Superliga.
You might be able to use the bookmakers above to bet on Danish football but you’ll find there aren’t that many sites where you’ll find info on the league, match previews, fixture lists and results.
For information on the Danish Superliga, the BBC provides up to date results of all the matches played in the league but rarely covers news and doesn’t cover match previews either.
The best resource is http://www.superliga.dk/ – here you’ll find stats on each game and live scores for the matches as well. The site isn’t fantastic in English but it’s good enough and right now it’s the best place to catch up with Danish football on the web.
