– You must place your first qualifying bet within no longer than 21 days of new account registration.

– Bets placed via the exchange, on the ‘same market’ don’t count towards this promotion.

– Once your 5x qualifying bets are settled, please allow up to 48 hours for the free bet to be credited to your player’s account (it’s usually much sooner).

To read the full terms please visit the Betfair website.

Wagering Requirements

To access your Betfair bonus, you will need to place 5x sportsbook bets at the minimum stake of £10 per bet and these bets must be on different markets. The odds of the trigger bets must be at least 1/5 (1.20), which is actually a lot less strict than many other bookmaker bonuses, on any market.

Your account will then be credited with the free a £20 free bet within 24 hours. These can only be redeemed against one bet each only, again at odds of 1/5 or longer.

Any winnings you make from your free bets are able to be withdrawn instantly, although your free bet stake will be deducted and is not available for withdrawal.

Other Betfair Bonuses

Various other promotions are available for Casino and Poker players alike. Below we list the most important ones, though you should make sure to check with Betfair’s promotions section regularly, as changes and updates are made often. All bonuses listed below apply to new players only, unless otherwise noted.

Casino Bonuses

Betfair CasinoThere’s a no deposit bonus and two other real money bonuses to choose from when you join Betfair and play in their casino for the first time:

30 Free Chips No Deposit

No deposit is required for new players to earn 30 free chips to use in Betfair’s casino, all you need to do is register an account. You’ll get 30 free chips released over the course of 3 consecutive days.

All players that are new to Betfair Casino are eligible – even if you already use their sportsbook for betting, although players from outside of the UK and Ireland are exempt.

There is a 1x wagering requirement on any winnings from free chips which themselves, currently, can only be used for Roulette.

Regular Casino Bonus – Option 1

There are two offers available from Betfair in this welcome bonus: games or live casino. For the regular casino bonus simply deposit a minimum of £10 and they will match it with a 100% bonus. The max bonus you can claim on this offer is £100 and the wagering requirements to clear are x45.

So if you decided you want to deposit £50 you’d get a £100 bonus applied to your account straight away. You would then need to wager your £100 bonus amount a total of x45 which would be £4,500.

HOWEVER some games count differently towards your requirements so be aware when playing – the percentages are listed in the table below.

Game TypeStake % Contribution To Wagering Requirements
Slots, Arcade, Scratchcard, Fixed Odds (excludes Lucky Wheel/Spin A Win)100%
Roulette (excludes French & Zero)25%
Card Games (excludes Casino War & Hold’em, Wild Vikings, Red Dog)20%
Sic Bo20%
Blackjack (excludes Surrender, Switch, Zero, Stravaganza & Pontoon)10%
French Roulette10%
Craps5%
Video Poker5%
Red Dog, Spin A Win/Lucky, Casino War & Hold’em, BJ Switch, Pontoon, Wild Vikings, Stravaganza)5%
Zero Games, Blackjack Surrender0%

Live Casino Bonus – Option 2

Option 2 is slightly different from option 1 in that it is a 100% match bonus up to a max of £200 – so there’s a slightly smaller max bonus and a smaller bonus percentage as well.

There is a minimum deposit of £20 for this bonus and it can only be used on Live Blackjack or Live Roulette. The wagering requirement here is 60x (higher than the previous bonus) which means if you got a £50 bonus you’d need to wager £3,000 to be able to withdraw.

Game contributions are as follows:

Game TypeStake % Contribution To Wagering Requirements
Live Roulette100%
Live Blackjack50%

Poker Bonus

Betfair PokerNo online poker room would be complete without a first deposit bonus. At Betfair poker, you’ll be awarded a welcome package which includes a 200% deposit bonus.

Note: Betfair poker works in euros so the bonus info listed below is done in that currency.

Basically when you make your first deposit at Betfair Poker they will match the amount with a 200% bonus up to a maximum of €1,500 (£1,200). So if you started out with a €100 deposit you would get a €200 bonus on top – however this bonus must be earned by playing and is not paid instantly.

To earn your bonus: you will need to rack up status points (SPs). For every 1,250 SPs you manage to earn you will release €10 of your bonus.

You have a total of 45 days from your first deposit to clear the bonus amount.

You will earn 25 status points for every €1 you pay in rake at either cash or tournament games. If you earn enough SPs in any given month you will be assigned a VIP level (Bronze, Silver or Gold). These levels entitle you to a multiplier on your status points as follows:

StatusSPs To EarnMultiplier
Bronze0x3
Silver1,250x3
Gold12,500x5.25

Why Sign Up With Betfair?

What should be immediately noted is that Betfair is not a regular bookmaker; they are a bookmakers and a betting exchange, where players from all around the world can bet against each others, thereby setting the odds themselves.

Founded in the year 2000, they employ over 3600 employees worldwide, and with a weekly turnover of over £50,000,000 and more than 4,5 million customers worldwide, they are currently the largest sports betting company in the UK. They only recently added their regular sports book which runs alongside the exchange, poker and casino platforms.

In our unique and completely unbiased bookmaker reviews, Betfair scored a respectable B rating.

The website was merited for its user friendly layout, and the ease of which players can bet in-play is to Betfair’s credit. Their live streaming service across a multitude of sports is the cherry on the cake.

License Info

Betfair are based in Gibraltar, and thus regulated and licensed by the Gibraltar Gambling Commission. They have a UK license too due to the scale of their operations here, and so are free to operate as they wish in England and beyond. So in being regulated by not one but two gambling regulators, players are assured the very best levels of service and a trusted environment in which to place their bets.

Under the terms of their licenses this also means that:

  • No players under the age of 18 will be able to sign up
  • That a ‘fair’ gaming platform is provided in their casino
  • That relevant support is offered to those suffering from a gambling-related problem

2017 Promotions

Betfair’s ‘Up To £100 In Free Bets’ is one of the most popular welcome bonuses out there, and one that has recently been matched by other bookies. Other promotions are also available to members in 2017:

Acca Insurance – a promo in which players can secure a refund if one leg of their football or tennis accumulator lets them down (usually with a four leg minimum to be applicable).

Cash Out – see how your bets are getting on and if things are looking good you can cash them out before they complete for a percentage of your original winnings (it’s great for football accumulators).

3/1 Racing – get a free bet if you manage to back a 3/1 winner or great in a race televised live on C4. Free bet to same value as winning stake up to a max of £25 (copied from Bet365’s Channel 4/1 offer).
