Review of Unibet

Editors Note:

Unibet are one of the biggest online bookmakers serving Europe and of late have really upped their game adding one of the top live streaming services, cash out in-play, odds boosts and more. I’m constantly impressed with their innovation and new features – all of which will be covered in this Unibet review.

The comapny first launched online in 1999 and I’ve had an account with them for a number of years having first used their online sports platform in the early 2000’s. In that time they’ve undergone some serious changes and of late have established themselves as one of the best betting sites you can join.

If you want to join Unibet then as a new customer you’ll get a £40 welcome offer when you sign up and access to their live streaming service, in-play betting and free mobile betting app. As an extra incentive they’ll also give new depositors a £10 casino bonus on top of the sports offer.

Pros & Cons of Unibet

  • Great live streaming service
  • Bigger than average welcome offer
  • Quick deposits & withdrawals
  • Easy to use betting app
  • Will sometimes limit big winners (but always payout first)
  • Wagering requirement on bonus

How To Deposit To Unibet

Depositing money with Unibet is relatively easy, although if you want to use a more obscure payment method, or cryptocurrency, then you may find you don’t have as many options as other betting sites.

Deposits are free of charge and were processed instantly. To access the deposit section, log in to Unibet and click on the ‘Deposit’ option.

Here you will see a screen load up with your payment method details. You can change the payment method if you wish by clicking on the link. Other than that, simply enter the details for your chosen payment method, along with how much you want to deposit, and you should have the funds in your account instantly.

How To Withdraw From Unibet

If you want to make a withdrawal from your Unibet account, then you need to click on the Main Cash Account button and from here click on the yellow Account button which appears in a drop down list.

This brings up a page showing your transaction history. Click on the ‘Bank’ option on the left hand list and then ‘Withdraw Money’.

You then simply need to complete the form as to how much you wish to withdraw. What is useful is that listed below the withdrawal data is the different withdrawal options and how long each one will take. Which brings us neatly on to…

How Long Does It Take To Withdraw At Unibet

In general, the withdrawal times at Unibet are generally very good and compare favourably to some other sites.

The quickest options are ewallet services such as NETELLER, PayPal and Skrill, all of whom should see withdrawals completed within 12 hours of being actioned.

You can receive online banking withdrawals via Trustly anywhere from a few minutes up to 24-hours, depending on your bank, while debit card withdrawals take from 1-3 banking days.

For standard bank transfers the time is between one and five days.

Customer Service At Unibet

Phone, Email & Live Chat

What’s customer support like?

10|10
  • Easy to reach
  • Live chat service
  • Email support
  • Free support via phone

The first stop for any customer with Unibet is the sites extensive Help section. Clicking on this (using the link in the header menu) will bring up a vast database which will allow you to find the answer to most common queries that you may have about a section of the site, or a particular bet or your account.

However, for direct contact, UniBet also offer a 24/7 customer services support desk, which is in English despite being European-facing. You can contact them in one of three ways.

Unibet are one of the only bookmakers to offer a freephone support service which we rate highly as many people prefer the immediacy of being able to speak to someone directly, particularly if it is a concerning issue to do with your accounts security or similar.

All in all Unibet reviews particularly well vs other bookmakers in the support department hence their top marks in this section.

Review of Unibet Website

Mobile & desktop site review

Is Unibet easy to use?

7|10
  • Clean well designed website
  • Easy to place bets on app
  • Intuative bet slip
  • Promotions easy to find

Unibet Mobile Review

UniBet offers dedicated apps for iOS and Android mobile devices, and the app has a rating of around 2.9/5 on the app store. There are a number of complaints and in amongst the usual ones about people losing money, there are some more worrying ones about accounts being closed once punters start to win.

It’s a concern we do have about Unibet, which we mentioned in the pro’s and cons section at the top of our Unibet review, but it’s impossible to tell how wide spread this is and multiple people on the Cheeky Punter team use Unibet with unrestriced access so our assumption is this is quite an uncommon problem.

It’s a pity as otherwise the Unibet mobile app is a great addition for the punter on the go. It is quick, easy to use and has been improved a great deal from the original, which was frankly poor and beset with issues.

However, several updates have really improved the app over the years and in terms of usability, it rates very highly.

The top two menus allow you to nagivate the app in its entireity and the second row of icons linking to popular events and sports is particularly useful. The show hide funtion on the bet slip at the foot of the screen is also a neat feature as it allos you to maximise screen space while looking for markets.

Most of the complaints about the app are not about the app itself, but UniBet’s conduct, which is a little concerning, but not really an issue with the app itself.

Unibet Desktop Review

UniBet’s app is very good, and despite being clean in design, the Unibet website isn’t quite as easy to get around. A lack of grpahics does mean the site loads quickly but it also makes it appear somewhat overwhelming in terms of info on the screen.

Newer punters will be more suited to the app but more seasoned sports bettors won’t have a problem using the website.

It is hard to differentiate between the different sports at a glance and it just makes it harder work than it needs to be to find the betting markets you want.

That’s a shame as in terms of content, the site is excellent, and the wide range of bets means that you can bet on almost any sport, even some unusual ones such as the WWE wrestling.

For some reason, Racing is separate to sports betting, which is a little strange, and does mean that moving between racing and other sports isn’t as quick and easy as it might be.

It’s not a bad site and once you get used to how it works, it does feel more natural to use, but if you are coming to the site from another bookmaker with a more traditional interface, then you may be a little frustrated with things at first.

How To Join Unibet

Markets & Odds at Unibet

Massive range of sports

What sports can you bet on at Unibet?

10|10
  • 35+ sports
  • Widest range available
  • Enhanced bets & accas
  • Live betting & streaming

Although Unitbet are not the largest online bookmaker in terms of customer base, they make up for this by offering a really wide range of sports which rivals all the industries biggest players.

In fact, this is probably their unique selling point – people can easily bet on the more obscure sports at Unibet. The full list of sports always offered by Unibet are:

  • American Football
  • Athletics
  • Aussie Rules
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Boxing
  • Chess
  • Cricket
  • Cycling
  • Darts
  • E-Sports
  • Floorball
  • Football
  • Futsal
  • Golf
  • Greyhounds
  • Handball
  • Horse Racing
  • Ice Hockey
  • MMA
  • Motorsports
  • Netball
  • Olympics
  • Politics
  • Rugby League
  • Rugby Union
  • Snooker
  • Surfing
  • Tennis
  • Trotting
  • TV
  • UFC
  • Volleyball
  • Water Polo
  • Winter Olympics
  • Winter Sports
  • WWE & Wrestling

This massive selection of different sports is great for those with a passion for sport across the board, and in particular gambling on the more obscure pastimes.

The fact that they even offer markets on WWE wrestling and winter sports – only popular for bettors in Scandinavia – shows that they are always looking for extra markets to add to increase their presence. For their diversity alone they score well with us here and it’s certainly boosted them up the table in our bookmaker reviews section.

In-Play Betting Review at Unibet

Up there with the best

Is live betting offered?

8|10
  • Expected range of events
  • Cash out available
  • Live scores & stats
  • Bet & watch horse racing

Unibet InplayUnibet offer a live section which again is comparible to the best online betting sites – the only site to outdo them is really Bet365 in this area.

Down the left hand side you have all live events currently taking place and in the middle panel of the screen you have a live scores box with game stats, action areas and the live odds as well. The live section is accessed by clicking on the ‘Live Betting’ tab in the toolbar left or the top menu on website or app.

Unibet Live Streaming Review

Unibet TVThe Unibet in play section also features live streaming, which many bookies don’t currently support, so it outscores the field here and to access streams just look for the ‘UTV’ logo next to the listed live market.

You can watch any horse race if you’ve bet a min of £1 on the race and as long as you have money in your account, or have had money in your account in the last 24 hours, you can access all other streams.

Big thumbs up here. The selection is good, thousands of events are shown, and requirements to watch are low.

Overall Review

Here’s our overall take on things…

Our Verdict of Unibet

One of the best bookmakers
OUR RATING FOR:
UNIBET
4 | 5

At the very top of our review we’ve given Unibet a grade of 4 stars out of 5. At Cheeky Punter we like to rate all bookies on the quality of the site and how safe it is to use for punters, a 4 star rating is defined in our betting reviews section as ‘Good sites which pose little if any risk to player funds and have a solid reputation but lack the features to be rated higher’

There’s a couple of reason why Unibet don’t score higher than a 4 star with us at the minute…

Firstly they are very much targeted at the European market which means that a lot of the currency options on their site are in Euros – you can change this but starting off in Euros is not ideal. To change it to pounds you must fill the correct box when registering – missing that can be a pain.

The second and slightly more concerning reason we only give them a 4 star rating is because they have a bit of a reputation in the online community for closing winning punters accounts… although they always eventually payout.

We don’t like bookmakers who aren’t prepared to play the game a little with punters and whilst there aren’t enough instances on record to downgrade Unibet further for this it’s still a concern. Couple that with the wagering requirements attached to the bonus and it’s a max of 4 stars from us.

If you’re looking to take that slight step up from Unibet then why not read our Betvictor review, it should offer a good comparison.
