Review of Totesport
Our review will cover what on offer and compare them to other bookmakers so you can judge if you want to join or not.
I’ve had a Totesport account both before and after Betfred bought them out and there’s no denying that things have improved since the takeover but there’s still work to be done.
If you do choose to open an account with Totesport your money will be 100% safe and secure. Not only that but they will always pay out on winning wagers and anyone who doesn’t currently have an account with them will be entitled to their £35 welcome offer.

This section of our Totesport review will cover the markets that they offer and review their live betting suite as well.
Totesport have an incredibly long history within gambling in the UK, so as you would expect they cover all of the major sports that the British people hold close to their hearts – as well as a few recent imports as well.
They do cover a wide range of sports but their depths of markets per event is somehwat limited when compared to those covered by other online bookmakers (such as Bet365 or Betvictor). This definitely holds them back as far as our rating is concerned.
The sports offered by Totesport are:
- Aussie Rules
- Gaelic Football
- Horse Racing
- Ice Hockey
- Motor Sports
- UFC / MMA
As illustrated, this is obviously a pretty decent selection, but when you consider that the number of bets you can make per event is low across the board on their site they have to be marked down.
So low, at times, that when at Bet365 you might find 100 bets per event at Totesport you’ll be luck to see 30. Again this contributes to use downgrading them and moves them firmly out of the highest rated brackets where they’ll stay until they diversify.
All markets offered are mirrored on the Totesport mobile app so it’s the same betting options as the online website.
- Modern in-play suite
- Good range of sports
- Strong on live scores & stats
- No live streaming
The bet in play system offered by Totesport is probably now above average and it can be accessed by clicking on a tab at the top of the screen, just to the right of the logo. Once you’ve clicked the ‘bet in play’ button you’ll be presented will all the live markets which are available and a list of upcoming live markets as well.
Since the takeover by Betfred the range of markets on offer in-play has vastly improved, as has the number of live markets per event.
One let down here is you don’t have the ability to sort in-play markets so navigation can be a pain, especially if you’ve got multiple bets running at the same time.
A real plus to the live section at Totesport is the amount of actual information that punters are given about what’s going on in the game or event they have bet on. They’ve got a graphic which shows action areas, multiple in-play stats are available and a text commentary of match events shown.
The marked improvement in live betting at Totesport is a real bright spot for their future and if they can continue to improve their entire product as much as their live betting they’ll be on the right track.

- The bonuses hit your account within 24 hours and you’re now free to place them on whatever you want.
At the top of our review you will have noticed that we’ve given Totesport 3.5 stars out of 5. This isn’t anywhere near the best possible rating we give out but it’s also by no means the worse.
It means that when it comes to safety and security Totesport is right up there with the best BUT when it comes to features, promotions and bonuses they are lacking.
There are many reasons we don’t give Totesport a higher rating; lack of promotions running, size of opening offer and bets needed to release it, poor depth to their betting markets, lack of live streaming product and generally quite uncompetitive odds (although these are by no means the worst around).
If you do bet just the more popular sports then Totesport will do just fine. If you need a much wider range of betting options then check out either our bookmaker reviews section and try either Bet365 or Betvictor who we put right at the top of the tree.
