Champions League Final Preview & Tips: Saturday 30th May
We absolutely smashed it in the Europa League final on Wednesday night hitting all three tips for a profit of £92.50 from £10 bets.
The Champions League final between Man City and Chelsea takes place in Portugal this weekend and I’m hoping for a repeat performance!
For City fans, it is the first time their team has been in the final after never going further than the semi-final stage. City have, however, won a European competition, landing the Cup Winners Cup back in 1970.
Chelsea will be competing in their third final, losing their first to Manchester United on penalties before they landed a win against all the odds in Germany against Bayern Munich, in Bayern’s home stadium, again via penalties.
Having already landed the Premier League, Community Shield and Football League Cup this season, City can make it another four-trophy haul for Pep Guardiola by landing the trophy that they covet above all others.
The game will also be Sergio Aguero’s last for the club as he is expected to make a move to Barcelona at the end of the season.
It promises to be an exciting game and one that could have a few twists and turns and I’ve given you an extended analysis of the game, as well as a couple of extra bets to consider on it too.
Champsions League Final Tips: Thursday 27th May
It is another all-English Champions League final to look forward to and this time we have first time finalists Manchester City seeking to complete a trophy quartet by landing the Champions League trophy for the first time, against a Chelsea side looking to finish the season with at least one piece of silverware.
Both sides have stuttered a little over the final weeks of the season, both losing two games out of their last five in all competitions. For City, Chelsea have been something of a nuisance in recent weeks as not only did the Londoners knock them out of the FA Cup, they also beat them 2-1 at the Etihad in the league just a short time later.
City will be very wary of that threat so this promises to be an intriguing matchup. The Manchester side have been the best team in the tournament this season, but Chelsea have matched them in recent times, their only blip a late defeat to Porto in a game that they won 2-1 on aggregate.
No team has any players suspended for this game, so let’s finish our analysis with a look at how both reached the Final, as well as a look at the two likely teams that will face off on Saturday evening.
Route To Final: Man City
Manchester City finished top of Group C with 16 points to qualify as a seed in the Round of 16.
- Round of 16 – vs Borussia Moench – Away – W 2-0, Home – W 2-0 (4-0 agg)
- Quarterfinal – vs B.Dortmund – Home – W 2-1, Away – W 2-1 (4-2 agg)
- Semifinal – vs PSG – Away – W 2-1, Home – W 2-0 (4-1 on agg)
Route To Final: Chelsea
Chelsea finished top of Group E with 14 points and qualified as a seeded team for the Round of 16.
- Round of 16 – vs Atletico Madrid – Away – W 1-0, Home – W 2-0 (3-0 agg)
- Quarterfinal – vs FC Porto – Away – W 2-0, Home – L 0-1 (2-1 agg)
- Semifinal – vs Real Madrid – Away – D 1-1, Home – W 2-0 (3-1 on agg)
Probable Starting Line Ups:
Manchester City – (4-3-3) – Ederson, Walker, Zinchenko, Dias, Stones, Gundogan, Rodrigo, De Bruyne, Mahrez, Foden, Bernardo Silva
Chelsea – (5-4-1) – Mendy, Azpilicueta, Chilwell, Silva, Rudiger, James, Kante, Jorginho, Mount, Havertz, Werner
In terms of recent form, picking a winner is something of a tricky one. Both teams have slipped up of late and in their last two games, Chelsea have shocked the bookies to land victories on both occasions.
However, Manchester City have long had this trophy on the radar and I think Pep Guardiola secretly wanted to win this more than any other trophy, perhaps even the Premier League. They have stumbled at various stages in recent seasons but have looked much more composed this time around.
With no suspended players for either team and relatively fully fit squads, there are no excuses for either side in that regard, and while both squads are packed with star talent, I just feel City have a slight edge in quality.
This will be tight and I can see goals at both ends but I do feel that City will emerge as the winners.
- Correct Score – Manchester City 2-1 Chelsea – £10 returns £90.00
- Anytime Goalscorer – Riyad Mahrez (Man City) – £10 returns £34.00
