Euro 2020 Football Tips – Friday 11th June
It may have been delayed a year, but Euro 2020 is finally here and it kicks off on Friday 11th June at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome. Italy will get the competition underway against Turkey after the opening ceremony for the tournament.
Over Euro 2020, I will be bringing you tips for every day that there are matches in the tournament. That goes right from the opening Group Phase game on Friday, right the way through to the final itself on the 11th July.
On most days, when there are three or four fixtures, I will bring you one tip for each game, but on days when there are two or one games being played, we may bring you multiple tips for those games, so you still have a selection of bets to pick from.
I will provide a bit of context and analysis for the games taking place and of course, I will be bringing you details of how my tips perform too.
Finally, as a special bonus for Euro 2020, I am going to give you one extra special bonus tip for a bet that I really fancy that day, which may well come from an unusual market, or may well be a much longer odds selection than usual.
Here’s my tips for the opening fixture of Euro 2020.
Euro 2020 Tips: Friday 11th June
Roberto Mancini has been quietly rebuilding this Italian team into a genuine force in Europe once again and their brilliant form over the last seven games puts them in a great position to get Euro 2020 off to a positive start.
While perhaps not having stars of the calibre of Roberto Baggio, Paolo Maldini or Christian Vieri, this is a very talented Italian squad that is built on what is the best defence in the tournament by a long way and they also have the perfect mentality to get results against any team in this tournament, as they have proven in the past.
Turkey are no mugs either, and they are unbeaten in their last six games, but their record against Italy doesn’t make great reading, having never beaten the Italians, however they have drawn on the last two occasions they met, albeit the last of these was 13 years ago.
Both teams are solid defensively and that is the strength of their team, so I can’t see too many goals here, but if there is one, I think it is going to go to the home side to get them off to a solid start in Group A.
- Italy to win 1-0 – £10 returns £60.00
Having backed Italy to keep a clean sheet, for me it is a question of how much they win by. Italy seldom beat better teams heavily and often just a single goal is enough for them to claim the win and I think in a cagey opening game, that looks the most likely outcome here.
- Jorginho to score at Anytime – £10 returns £58.00
My gut feeling here is that defensively, Italy are good enough to keep Turkey from scoring but I can’t see Italy rattling in several goals for an easy win here. I also feel a set piece or penalty may decide the game, hence I am backing Jorginho, who I think will take Italy’s penalties and some of their free kicks.
- Half Time/Full Time – Draw/Italy – £10 returns £42.00
As you can see, I can’t see this opening match being a goal-fest, and I fancy Italy to nab the win 1-0, probably by a penalty or set play. I also expect a cagey start with Italy to score in the second half, as such my bonus tip reflects that.
