Europa Conference League Final Tips – 7th June

There is English interest in this weeks forthcoming Europa Conference League Final between West Ham United and Fiorentina which will be the focus of this tips article.

The game will take place in Prague at the Eden Arena and it will be the third game between the two teams, with Fiorentina winning the previous two games in the mid 1970s by a 1-0 scoreline.

Both teams also have won a European trophy previously too, West Ham winning the now discontinued Cup Winners Cup in 1965 and Fiorentina doing likewise in 1961.

Analysis

This should be an intriguing game just as last year’s match was between AS Roma and Feyenoord which the Italian side won by a 1-0 scoreline. For me, Fiorentina seem to have the more consistent side when you look at the season as a whole, but you can’t overlook West Ham’s performances in this competition.

The Hammers have drawn 1 of 14 games, winning the other 13, a record that Fiorentina cannot match and it has been the Italians away form that has saved them, especially in the knockout phase of the tournament.

I have a feeling that this may be a close one and we could need extra time, or maybe even penalties to decide the winner.
