Weekend Football Betting Tips: 18th & 19th July
I am very happy with how the midweek games went for me so far as ahead of the game between Leicester and Sheffield United, which takes place tonight, I have already guaranteed myself a very nice £26.50 profit
That could increase to £61.50 if the Foxes and the Blades draw.
Even if that bet goes down, I’ll still record a nice profit, which is a good position to be in as I ready the next set of tips.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s tips, we have a mixture of games to take in this weekend as we have a small number of Premier League fixtures taking place (three in total across Saturday and Sunday), plus the two big FA Cup Semi-final ties taking place at Wembley too.
I have obviously put both of those big FA Cup clashes into this weeks selection of tips, along with two of the three Premier League games that I like the look of the most for this set of games.
Football Predictions: Saturday 18th July
This is one of those games between two teams, one of whom has failed to get going since the restart (Norwich) and the other who after a slow start, has hit the ground running and produced a number of fine performances to pick up some excellent results (Burnley).
As such, with Norwich already relegated and having little to play for other than pride and perhaps a place at the club next season, it is probably not surprising that I am picking Burnley to take the win here although there are more reasons for my selection than that.
I love the way Sean Dyche has set his team up in recent games, able to soak up pressure and hit on the counter effectively. They have drawn at Anfield and won at Old Trafford this season and I can’t see Carrow Road proving to be an unduly daunting hurdle for the team to overcome.
With Jay Rodriguez in good form in front of goal and a defence looking very tough to break down, and arguably the most in form keeper in the Premier League behind them, I am backing Burnley to come away with a solid win in this one.
If you look at the current form of these teams over the last seven games or so between them, you can’t give Arsenal a prayer. City have won all seven of those games, scoring almost three a game while Arsenal have managed just two goals in those matches.
There’s no doubt that the Gunners seem to have a mental block when it comes to playing Manchester City of late and their two 3-0 home defeats in the Premier League this season is further evidence of that. It is strange though as Arsenal’s attack has the pace, skill and goalscoring threat to cause City plenty of problems.
However, City tend to win this game in midfield and that is where the key battles will be once again and in truth, I cannot see any way Arsenal can win them. City are just better in every department in that particular area of the team and as such, I think they will stroll to the win here.
I can see Arsenal at least scoring a goal in this game and I feel they will put up more of a fight than they did in the league games, but even so, I am backing City for the win here and to move on to another FA Cup Final.
Football Tips: Sunday 19th July
This match is all about European football for both these teams next season. A win for Leicester will keep them within touching distance of fourth spot in the table going into their final game of the season against Manchester United next Sunday, while a win for Spurs would improve their Europa League gopes and could even push them into Champions League contention, although this is unlikely.
Spurs have lost just the one game since the restart (away to Sheff Utd) and have beaten Arsenal and Everton as well as drawing with Manchester United. A good win over Tottenham, which saw a timely return to form for Harry Kane in front of goal, will have got them in fine fettle for this game.
Leicester’s form is far more sketchy and of the teams battling for that final Champions League spot, they are the ones I fear are most likely to lose out because of that form. It is fair to say that this game really has to be viewed as one they must not lose and ideally need to win to keep up their chances of a shot at the Champions League next season.
That said, I can’t quite see that as I think Spurs better form, allied to home advantage and some history between the teams, means this one will likely go the way of the home side.
If Chelsea are to keep their hopes alive of domestic silverware this season then they are going to have to get the better of a Manchester United side that has beaten them already three times this season, including two victories at Stamford Bridge, as well as a 4-0 hammering at Old Trafford.
It is a big test for Frank Lampard’s men especially when you consider the inconsistent form that they have shown in recent weeks, while Manchester United’s performances since February have been excellent and even improved since the Premier League restarted once again.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have hit on a real recipe for success with his new trio of frontmen, Rashford, Greenwood and Martial and with Pogba, Fernandes and Matic in midfield, this new look United looks much stronger, more creative and much more dangerous.
So much so that I can see United being the team to end Chelsea’s hopes in cup competition for the second time this season and claiming a spot in the final.
