Boylesports is one of Ireland’s biggest online bookmakers and they’ve got plenty to offer punters with more promotions than most and a decent welcome bonus as well. We’ve given them a 3.5 star rating and below we’ll explain why in our full review below.
I know most of the attention, when it comes to Irish bookies, is on Paddy Power because of their marketing but Boylesports do actually also offer a decent service to punters however when compared to bigger European bookmakers they do still have some work to do.
If you don’t currently have an account with Boylesports then there’s a £25 free bet bundle on offer to new customers along with a host of different promotions to take advantage of once you’ve joined.
Licensing & Safety
Boylesports is a company registered in Gibraltar, and as such the practices of this company are licensed and regulated by the Government of Gibraltar. They also hold a UK Gambling Commission license which means that Boylesports are guaranteed to:

The company itself was founded in 1989 in Ireland and found success on the high-street before moving into the online scene in the early 2000’s. Markets & Odds
Boylesports, although based in Gibraltar for tax purposes, is actually Ireland’s second largest bookmaker (behind Paddy Power); therefore they are well positioned to offer a large variety of different sports to be bet on, although there are other sites with greater diversity. The sports that are featured on Boylesports are:
- American Football
- Aussie Rules
- GAA Football
- GAA Hurling
- Horse Racing
- Ice Hockey
- Table Tennis
The layout of the site is such that it is easy to navigate around and find more detailed information on each of the individual sporting events, whether this is a horse race, a lower league football match or an ice hockey match being played thousands of miles from the United Kingdom.
The fact that the site and app are so easy to navigate around ensures that you will never become frustrated when trying to place a bet on anything and you’ll always be able to find the bet you want to place with ease.
Depth of markets per event is good, whilst not right up there with our top rated bookmakers, and odds are competitive but again not at the top of the pile when it comes to value. You’ll likely get better prices on football, for example, at Betvictor.
Like all other major online bookmakers, Boylesports operates a service whereby people can bet on different sporting events as they are being held.
This means that it is possible to place bets on such things as the time of the next goal in a football match or on the next player to score a basket in a game of basketball. The odds given for these occurrences are constantly changing, so the website is quick to update to ensure that you always get fair odds.
Live betting at Boylesports can be found using the ‘In-play’ tab in the top nav bar next to the ‘Sports’ tab – it’s also in the second spot in the left hand menu and easy to get to on the app.
Here you’ll be taken to all the events they offer live odds on, clicking an event opens all the markets available in the main content area. On the right hand side of the screen you’ll see a live scores type widget which keeps you up to date with the score and game stats, below you’ll see match odds.
Unfortunately we’ve had to mark Boylesports down here because the design and layout of their in-play offering is pretty poor. The current system of arrows are clearly out of place and although a favourites option is available to pin events at the top the system just needs work.
For them to keep up with the likes of Bet365 (who have the best live betting around) they need to work on this. They also need to offer live streaming on more than just horse racing which is all they’ve got right now.
Boylesports have a £25 free bet bundle offer available to all new customers.
When you join and bet £10, at 2.0 (even money) or better you get a £5 free bet. You can then place 3 more bets of £10 at 2.0 (even money) or greater to get release another £5 free bet token (repeatable until £20 in total has been paid out). This Boylesports review is similar to all the other reviews we’ve got listed on our site in that at the top of the page you’ll see a grade. Boylesports have achieved a 3.5 star grade in our ranking system – let us explain why it’s not a higher.
First and foremost we don’t like the fact that users who deposit using Neteller, Skirll and prepaid cards can’t claim the bonus on offer. Just because you prefer to use a certain deposit option shouldn’t rule you out of the reward for joining up with an online bookmaker. It’s also only available to those in the UK and Ireland which excludes the rest of Europe.
We also don’t really like the multiple stages of the free bet offer at Boylesports. We get that it rewards loyalty because you realise free bets as you go but we can’t hide from the fact that other free bet offers are way more attractive.
Secondly no live streaming is offered, other than horse racing, by Boylesports and whilst this isn’t necessary to get a higher grade it’s still a negative point. Their live betting score is pretty good but would be so much better if live streaming was included and they need to sort design and layout to get a higher mark here.
There’s no doubt that Boylesports are offering a good service to all their punters and your money is safe with them. They’ll payout on all winning wagers and withdrawals are processed in a timely manner.
