Greyhound Betting FAQ

Greyhound racing by its very nature is a pretty simple sport to bet on, but there are a handful of bet types beyond the straightforward race winner market which some punters may not know about. We’ve endeavoured to explain these as simply as possible below.

Forecasts – A forecast bet for any greyhound race is where a punter not only selects the winner but also bets on which trap will come in second to it. Straight forecasts are bets placed on one particular dog to win and another to come second, whilst reverse forecasts pay out if the two chosen traps finish in the top two, regardless of their finishing order.

Tricasts – Following the same principals as forecasts, tricast bets differ only in that they ask a punter to select the first three in a race rather than just the first two. That makes them more difficult to land than forecasts but does mean they generally also boast longer odds.

Winning Distance – Whilst not as widely available for greyhound races as it is for horse races, it is still also possible to sometimes bet on the distance you believe a chosen dog will win its race by. This is a popular bet for those races where it seems obvious that a really short priced favourite is going to win.
